RENO, Nev. – The Nevada football team’s popular “Practice With the Pack” youth football day has been scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Wolf Pack Park, head coach Chris Ault announced.

The event provides a unique opportunity for youth football players to practice with the Wolf Pack and interact with the players and coaching staff. It is open to all youth football players, middle-school aged and younger, and is free. Youth players who wish to participate need only to wear a jersey or t-shirt and athletic shoes or football cleats. Players should also bring their own water to the event.

The youth players will have the opportunity to go through football drills with the Wolf Pack coaching staff and players. Nevada’s players and coaches will also be available after the event for pictures and autographs.

“This event is one of the oldest traditions of Nevada Football and it has been one of the cornerstones of our program in terms of building a bond with the football community since the 1980s,” said Ken Wilson, Nevada’s associate head coach. “Our coaching staff and players truly enjoy the opportunity to work with the youth players in our area and it is a great experience for everyone involved.”

In addition to the Wolf Pack football team and coaching staff, the Nevada cheerleading team will also be at the event.

The clinic begins at 1:30 p.m. and will go until 3 p.m. Wolf Pack Park is located directly east of Mackay Stadium and west of Peccole Park. Free parking is available in the lots next to Peccole Park (off Evans Road) with additional parking available in the West Stadium Parking Complex (off Virginia Street). For more information, call the Nevada football office at 775-784-6891.

A wise man once said “the tough part of coach is your on the sidelines.”  However, it is fun to watch the six players on the field all chase the ball at the same time.(We will have to work on that).  We lost the game 5 to 3, but some really good things happened.  Four of the eight player got a shot on goal, and one of them is a first year player.  4 down and 4 to go to make my goal of getting every player a shot at the goal.   The stratagy of pulling the defense on corner kicks worked great as we scored on our only corner kick of the game.  Tonight practice will focus on some one on one defensive drills and goalie drills.
