Reno Aces Foundation Dream Week The Reno Aces Foundation Dream Week will serve to highlight people in our community deserving of recognition, by rewarding them with once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Driven by professional baseball, the Aces will grant wishes to outstanding and exceptional people that have helped made a positive impact on our community. Dreams will be granted during the week of June 25-29. The nomination process will begin very shortly; check back here for details.

Brett’s Big Leaguers The Reno Aces launched Brett’s Big Leaguers in 2010, as an initiative to benefit the lives of local underprivileged and seriously ill children. Each child selected for the program is given the chance to participate in once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, including one-on-one interaction with Butler and members of the Aces team. The program serves to offer positive role models for at-risk or underprivileged youth and tender a positive outlook for seriously ill children in the area. The Aces have partnered with the Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation to select participants for the program. The Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life for children with cancer and their families by providing financial assistance and compassionate support programs, while advocating for increased research funds and raising public awareness. Levy Restaurants, concessionaire for Aces Ballpark, will provide a complimentary meal for each child and his or her families during that day’s game.

United Federal Credit Union Extra Credit Challenge The Challenge, a partnership between the Reno Aces and United Federal Credit Union, is an incentive-based program open to students in pre-school through middle school. Participants must complete two book reports and take two online math tests during the summer. Students who complete the program will be honored at our Saturday, August 20 game with a pre-game ceremony and the chance to run the bases before the game. US Bank Student Heroes U.S. Bank is the exclusive sponsor of the Reno Aces Student Heroes Program. The center piece of the program consists of 5 school assemblies each spring, where U.S. Bank will donate more than 1,000 tickets to 5 elementary schools across Northern Nevada. U.S. Bank in partnership with the Aces will bring current players from the team for a Q&A session with the students, discussing education, hard work and the perseverance necessary to become a professional as well as a few minutes to meet the players. In addition, Archie, the beloved mascot of the Reno Aces, will be there to stress the importance of education.After the assemblies, all students in attendance will receive a Reno Aces ticket based on academic achievement, attendance and superior citizenship in the classroom as determined by their teachers. RENO, Nev.  – The University of Nevada baseball team defeated the Reno Aces, the Triple A affiliate of the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks, by a score of 7-3 in an exhibition contest at Aces Ballpark Tuesday night.  The Wolf Pack and Aces were meeting for the third consecutive year and Tuesday was the first time the Pack won the annual exhibition.
The game is a fundraiser for Nevada’s Dugout Club and the Reno Aces donated $15,000 for the third year in a row.
Pack left fielder Tom Niebergall got things started when he hit the first pitch of the game for a single then stole second base and eventually scored the first run of the night.  Center fielder Jamison Rowe followed Niebergall with a bunt single and scored Nevada’s second run as part of a three-run top of the first.
The Aces rallied to tie score at 3-3 in the fifth inning but the Pack responded with a four-run sixth.  Rowe collected his second hit of the contest in the big inning and also made a diving catch in center field earlier in the game.  First baseman Kewby Meyer nearly hit a home run that stayed in the park after bouncing off the top of the fence in right field to drive home a run in the inning.
The Aces pitchers took the mound for both squads and the game lasted just seven-and-a-half innings. The game was played in traditional Spring Training format.   Nevada outhit the Aces 9-3.

RENO, Nev.– For the first time in club history, four Reno Aces baseball games this summer will be televised live on my21 TV in Reno, the organization announced today.

The partnership between the Aces and my21 TV was finalized this month, and the collaboration will give fans throughout the region the opportunity to see Aces baseball from the comfort of their homes.

“As our team continues to evolve and prosper, we are dedicated to finding new ways to entertain our ever-growing fan base,” said Aces Managing Partner Stuart Katzoff. “Broadcasting games on television is a logical next step for us, and my21 TV is the perfect fit. We’re excited to get our first broadcast on the air.”

The 2011 television lineup kicks-off on July 21, when the Aces take on the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. Later in the month, the broadcast will feature the Silver State Diamond Challenge on July 29, with the Aces battling the Las Vegas 51s. The schedule continues on Aug. 6, when Reno matches up with the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2011 television slate will come to a close on Sept. 1 against Fresno-in a game that could potentially have major Pacific Coast League playoff implications.

“my21 TV is committed to bringing Northern Nevada local sports coverage,” said Vice President & General Manager of COX Media Group, Reno, Steve Cummings. “Our partnership with the Reno Aces will continue that commitment.”

The Voice of the Aces, Ryan Radtke, will handle play-by-play duties for each broadcast. my21 TV can be found over the air on channel 21.1, on cable channel 7, HD 721, as well as the Dish Network and DirectTV.

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada baseball team will play the Reno Aces Tuesday April 5 at 6:00 p.m. in a fund raising exhibition game at Aces Ballpark. All proceeds go to the Nevada baseball program and tickets can be purchased for $10 at the Legacy Hall ticket office.

The exhibiton game will feature Aces pitchers and catchers playing for both teams, all players will use wood bats and pitchers will be on a pitch count. The Aces won last year’s contest 11-1, with Nevada’s lone run scored by senior Waylen Sing Chow who tripled to put himself in scoring position.

The game was attended by 3,631 fans and raised $15,000 for the Nevada baseball program. This year’s goal is to have 5,000 people in attendance. There is also a program in place for fans to purchase tickets for at-risk kids to attend this year’s game.

Aces players to act as celebrity servers

RENO, Nev.- Manager Brett Butler and select Reno Aces players will act as celebrity servers for a special dinner at Bugsy’s Sports Bar and Grill on Aug. 11, with all proceeds to benefit the Reno Aces Foundation, the organization announced today.

Following the Aces’ 1:05 p.m. game on Aug. 11, the ballclub will host a private dinner in the Freight House District beginning at 5 p.m. Butler and several members of the team will serve dinner to participating patrons, in hopes of raising money for the Reno Aces Foundation. Beloved mascot Archie, as well as Aces Ballpark on-field MCs Austin & Tina, will join in on the festivities.

Admission into this special dinner will be just $65. For the price of admission, fans will receive dinner, drinks and a ticket to that day’s game against the Memphis Redbirds.

Dinner will consist of one-half slab of ribs, a plate of nachos, the choice of one of four premium entrees and dessert. All beer and wine will be included in the price of admission, courtesy of New West Distributing and Southern Wine and Spirits.

The event serves as the first major benefit for the newly-launched Reno Aces Foundation. All proceeds-including tips for the Aces celebrity servers-will go to the foundation, which supports youth and family initiatives throughout Northern Nevada.

Fans can RSVP beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday by contacting Amanda at (775) 334-7002. Space is limited, and spots are expected to fill-up very quickly.

Cinco de Mayo is being celebrated by the Reno Aces with the first 1,250 fans 21 and over who purchase a Corona get a sombrero.   The Reno Aces are 9-12 just 4.5 games back of Fresno.   Early weather reports say it is going to be a beautiful day so head on out and enjoy some great baseball.
