			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Standard &amp; Poor&#8217;s/Case-Shiller 20-city housing price  index — on a non-seasonally adjusted basis — fell 1.3% in November after an  identical 1.3% decrease in October. On a year-over-year basis, prices fell 3.7%  compared with November 2010.</p>
<p>The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted  composite index of mortgage applications for the week ending January 27 fell  2.9%. Refinancing applications decreased 3.6%. Purchase volume fell 1.7%.</p>
<p>The Institute for Supply Management reported that the monthly  composite index of manufacturing activity rose to 54.1 in January after a  reading of 53.1 in December. A reading above 50 signals expansion. It was the  30th straight month of expansion.</p>
<p>Total construction spending rose 1.5% to $816.4 billion in  December from $804 billion in November. Economists had anticipated an increase  of 0.5% in December. Compared to a year ago, construction spending rose 4.3%.</p>
<p>Factory orders rose 1.1% in December to a seasonally adjusted  $466.2 billion, following an upwardly revised 2.2% increase in November.  Excluding the volatile transportation sector, orders rose 0.6% in December.</p>
<p>The Institute for Supply Management reported that the monthly  composite index of non-manufacturing activity rose to 56.8 in January from 53 in  December. A reading above 50 signals expansion. It was the 26th straight month  of expansion in the services sector.</p>
<p>Initial claims for unemployment benefits fell by 12,000 to  367,000 for the week ending January 28. Continuing claims for the week ending  January 21 fell by 130,000 to 3.437 million.</p>

<p>RENO, Nev.—The Reno Aces and the University of Nevada baseball team will  renew their annual exhibition contest at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3  at Aces Ballpark, with proceeds once again benefiting the Nevada Dugout  Club, the entities jointly announced today.</p>
<p>The 2012 exhibition  will mark the third-straight exhibition contest between Reno’s Triple-A  affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the NCAA Division I Wolf Pack.  The Aces defeated Nevada 9-3 last season, on the heels of an 11-1  victory in the inaugural game in 2010.</p>
<p>In each of the last two  seasons, the Aces have made a $15,000 donation to the University of  Nevada Dugout Club, an organization that serves as the main fundraising  body of the University of Nevada baseball team.</p>
<p>The game will  serve as the final tune-up for the Aces before opening the 2012 season  on April 5, while Nevada’s student-athletes will have the opportunity to  compete against some of professional baseball’s top prospects at the  Triple-A level.</p>
<p>Once again this season, the game will be played  in an exhibition format, with Aces pitchers and catchers playing for  both squads. All players will use wood bats, and the contest will last  between seven and nine innings, depending on the status of the Aces  pitching staff. Utilizing the traditional Minor League Spring Training  format, pitchers will be placed on a pitch count, and should a pitcher  reach his limit, the game will immediately proceed to the next half  inning.</p>
<p>Tickets for the game are $14 for adults, $10 for college  students and $7 for children 12 and younger and seniors 62 and older.  Aces season-ticket holders will have the chance to purchase tickets at a  discounted rate of $10, and will be eligible for an exclusive presale  opportunity. Tickets may be purchased online at www.RenoAces.com  beginning Monday, March 20 and at the Reno Aces Ticket Office on  Saturday, March 10.</p>
<p>The Aces begin their defense of the Pacific  North Division Championship on Thursday, April 5 at Aces Ballpark. <p>Orders for durable goods — items expected to last three or  more years — rose $6.2 billion or 3% to $214.5 billion in December. This  increase surpassed the 2.2% economists had anticipated and follows a 4.3% surge  in November. Excluding volatile transportation-related goods, orders posted a  monthly increase of 2.1%.</p>
<p>New home sales fell 2.2% in December to a seasonally adjusted  annual rate of 307,000 units from a revised rate of 314,000 units in November.  Compared to a year ago, new home sales are down 7.3%.</p>
<p>Retail sales fell 1.4% for the week ending January 21,  according to the ICSC-Goldman Sachs index. On a year-over-year basis, retailers  saw sales increase 2.8%.</p>
<p>The Commerce Department announced that gross domestic product  — the total output of goods and services produced in the U.S. — increased at an  annual rate of 2.8% in the fourth quarter of 2011. This follows a 1.8% pace of  growth in the third quarter of 2011. For all of 2011, initial reports indicate  the economy expanded 1.7%.</p>
<p>Initial claims for unemployment benefits rose by 21,000 to  377,000 for the week ending January 21. Continuing claims for the week ending  January 14 rose by 88,000 to 3.554 million</p>

<p>Two junior college transfers and two prep products have enrolled in  classes this semester at the University of Nevada, the Wolf Pack  football program announced today.</p>
<p>Defensive backs Nigel Haikins and Markus Smith, both juniors, join the Wolf Pack from the junior college ranks while <a href="http://www.nevadawolfpack.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/coates_reggie00.html">Reggie Coates</a> and Andrew Main previously signed National Letters of Intent with  Nevada in 2011 and delayed enrollment until the spring semester.</p>
<p>Haikins is 5-10 and 205 pounds and comes to Nevada from Diablo Valley  College in the Bay Area. Smith is 6-1, 185 and joins the Pack from  Riverside (Calif.) Community College.</p>
<p>Coates (Crespi HS; Canoga Park, Calif.) is a 6-1, 240-pound freshman  defensive end while Main (Los Alamitos HS; Los Alamitos, Calif.) is a  6-3, 270-pound freshman offensive lineman.</p>
<p>More information on the players will be available along with the rest of the 2012 signing class, which will be announced Feb. 1</p>
