Friday’s MLB Picks

ST PETERSBURG, FL - JUNE 15: Infielder Wes He...

Today’s pick is the Tampa Bay Rays:  Tampa is playing great on the road (26-13) this season and when putting Price on the mound who is 11-3 with a 2.44 ERA there is no reason to think this trend will change.

My Secondary pick is the Florida Marlins:  Johnson is 8-3 with 1.83 ERA.  Be careful with this one because the Braves are tough at home.

Baseball Pick Monday May 17

NEW YORK - MAY 04: Dustin Pedroia #15 of the ...

Today picks is from a heated rivalry Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees.  The Yankees are 12-3 at home and Phil Hughes is pitching some lights out baseball.  He is averaging a strikeout an inning and has only had 14 walks.  The Boston Red Sox are 7-8 on the road and sending  Daisuke Matsuzaka to the mound.  Matsuzaka has dominating strkeout to walk ratio in his last start he struckout 9 with no walks.

I like the under in this game.

San Diego Padres
Image via Wikipedia

Roy Oswalt has been pitching really well however the Huston Astros have only scored 5 runs in his last 4 losses.  The Astros are only averaging 2.7 runs per game against right handed pitching.  The San Diego Padres have won 10 of the last 15 and 5 of the last 6.  I realize that the Padres are getting a great line, bu that seems to easy.   This reminds me of when Radke pitched for the Twins.    So take the Under.

These picks are meant to be for entertainment only!

April 12 MLB Picks

Bet Milwaukee (Davis) +140

Milwaukee Braves cap logo

Early season baseball lines are extremely volatile and subject to overreaction based on short term events.  That definitely appears to be the case here.  The Cubs are a -150 favorite, and that’s based almost exclusively on the performance of the respective starters in their first game of the season.  Doug Davis allowed 4 runs in 4 innings of work and didn’t factor in the decision as Milwaukee beat Colorado, while Ryan Dempster pitched 6 innings of 3 hit baseball allowing 1 earned run in a 3-2 loss to Atlanta where he wasn’t involved in the decision.  Please regard all picks for entertainment purposes.

Betting Baseball

BOSTON - OCTOBER 20: Starting pitcher Curt Sc...

Major League Baseball season is upon us and I know the Sports Books are busy.  The way I look at betting baseball is real similar to the way I look at betting football.  In football anybody who follows my picks will know “I like the points”.  In baseball it is pretty much the same except I like the positive line in most cases.   I also like certain situations, one of my favorite is going against an average pitcher after he had a great game in his last start. Thinking he cannot do it again.

One of the times I will choose a negative line is when an above average pitcher is playing for a below average team.  A great example of this is when Curt Schilling use to play for the Philadelphia Phillies.

Betting Overs/Unders

I don’t really do this much anymore however when I worked in the casino, placing a bet almost everyday, I would take the total score going over if:

1).  The total score line was 10 or higher and the line was negative.

2).  I never heard of the two pitchers.

My thought was if I have never heard of them, they cannot be a start.  I lost count on the number of times I was proven wrong.

Please remember betting is suppose to be for entertainment reasons only!  Please don’t bet with money you cannot afford to lose.

Hidden Valley

Hidden Valley is located in the Southeast Area of Reno.  It is strictly a residential community with a few condos around the Golf Course, otherwise all single family dwellings. A down side is there are no services, such as grocery stores, gas stations,  within the boundaries of Hidden Valley.  The upside is traffic into the area is mainly residents.

A major shopping center is located about just minutes away. The area does have two golf courses

:Rosewood Lakes - a public course

Hidden Valley-  private course.

Hidden Valley does have an elementary school as well as County Park which was recently outfitted with all new play equipment. There are equestrian trails and a gazebo with a BBQ which you can reserve to hold private picnics or gatherings.  The dog park is fully fenced, and comes with  plenty of water and doggie bags.

Many of the homes in Hidden Valley are constructed on large lots, close to .50 acre. Many have RV access and parking.  Some of the homes in Hidden Valley  have no HOA dues. Some of the newer homes built surrounding the original Hidden Valley development do have HOA fees but are what I call reasonable – $45 month or so for now.

Hidden Valley does host several annual events:  An Easter Egg Hunt, a community picnic, a pumpkin growing contest, a holiday Christmas Parade of lights and a winter dinner and dancing social which is held for residents at the Country Club.

As most of you are aware who read my blogs consistently know, I like to take a break from Reno/Sparks Real Estate and talk some NFL.  The Minnesota Viking dismantled The Cowboys last week.  Farve didn’t look like the old man everyone is trying to say he is.  I like the Viking and the points this week.   I like the Colt to beat the NEW YORK JETS in the AFC Conference Championships.  Setting up a great Super Bowl and a lousy Pro Bowl.
